Originating as a 4-H project in 1982 for a young Marcia Gross, Equus Therapeutic, a unique to our area program was born. The use of the horse as a non-traditional treatment partner capitalized on the dynamic atmosphere of the equine/human bond for learning and emotional growth.
The retirement of our founder, Marcia Gross in 2012 facilitated a restructuring of our Board of Directors and a new base of operation for the physical program. In 2016 the program secured Whispering Pines Farm, LLC, a private barn as our new permanent home. We have assembled a strong team of experienced therapeutic instructors, equine specialists and dedicated volunteers, each committed to continuing in the development and implementation of the therapeutic strategies envisioned by our founder.
